“It’s good to rent” Annual Conference
Welcome to Welsh Tenants’ 2014 conference that follows on from two previous successful national events. This year Welsh Tenants will explore what’s good about renting, with an exciting line up that is sure to inform and engage delegates.
There are three plenary sessions that will cover: the challenges in today’s rental markets, a celebration about what’s good about renting and the plans and priorities as they seek to examine political priorities for Wales and the wider rental markets.
There will also be some exciting opportunities to get involved and interact with sector leaders and an opportunity to enhance your knowledge and understanding of what works.
Some influential players who are helping to shape housing provision and support and to share lessons learnt have been invited to attend. Workshops and discussions will feature grant funding programmes that help tenants with financial inclusion, community groups establishing self help support Foodbanks and credit unions, welfare advice and support. The workshops celebrate what’s good about housing and how you can make a difference in your community through mutual self-help and partnership support.
For those that want to shape how housing is being delivery there are workshops on regulation and scrutiny, board governance and the co-operative movement. We also have new self-financing regime for local authorities who have retained their stock, the WHQS Focus On Delivery Charter and how the sector can start to build council housing once more.
There will also be the customary social events that make the Welsh Tenants a such a friendly interactive occasion full of learning and support with an opportunity to network with people who care about how we make it good to rent in Wales.
