Course outline

This CAB two-day practical course will provide a detailed introduction to advising clients who have debt problems and is suitable for generalist advisers, those new to money advice and advisers with other subject specialisms.

Learning objectives

By the end of this course you will be able to:

·        describe the main types of debt and identify what problem debt is, who is affects and its causes

·        identify the aim of money advice and the adviser’s role

·        recognise common situations that may affect a client’s liability for debt

·        assist clients to collect information on their income and expenditure to maximise their income and draft a financial statement

·        identify and describe to clients different strategies for dealing with multiple debt
