Getting to Grips with Child and Family Policy in Wales
A one-day course facilitated by Children in Wales.
This course is designed for managers and practitioners who wish to gain a clearer understanding of how their organisation, and key areas of work, fit into the main policy areas concerning children, young people and families in Wales.
Participants will learn about distinct Welsh policies that influence both national and local planning and relevant funding streams. There will be opportunities to share practice and network with others.
The course will include:
– An overview of the political context and processes in Wales
– Identification of key children and family policy in Wales
– Clarification of the key differences between Welsh and English policies for children and families
– An explanation of the local structures and priorities for planning children and family services
– The implications of working in a bilingual country
– An opportunity for participants to analyse the main threats and opportunities for their services
