Geek Speak Cardiff: Data Evolution

6th July 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Is your third sector organisation making the most of its data? How are you publishing, sharing and making use of it? Geek Speak Cardiff, an informal group that shares web and social media skills in the sector, is holding a discussion session on how charities and social enterprises are using data.

This free event is being run with Ben Proctor, who will share the work of the Data Evolution research project. The project is being run by the charity DataKind UK and the social enterprise Data Orchard, which is looking at the challenges and opportunities that different sorts of charities and social enterprises face in making better use of data.

Esko Reinikainen from the Open Data Institute Node in Cardiff will look at what Open Data means for the third sector, and how it can benefit citizens and communities.

They will also be sharing a case study on effective use of data by a charitable organisation, and will be looking to hear from participants about their good practice and any issues they face.

The event is being sponsored by Kin + Ilk, who are providing the venue for free. As an informal and not-for-profit group, we are unable to cover the cost of refreshments, but they will be available from Kin + Ilk during the session.
