Fuel Poverty Stakeholder Workshop
Community Action Partnership: Working together to tackle fuel poverty in Cardiff
National Energy Action Cymru, the fuel poverty charity which campaigns to ensure everyone in Wales can afford to keep their house warm, would like to invite you (or a representative) to attend an event to find out more about the support and assistance available to help your clients who may be struggling to pay their energy bills. The event is free to attend but places are limited and based on a first come, first served basis.
Nest is the Welsh Government’s Warm Homes scheme. It provides households on low incomes with access to a range of advice and support to help them reduce their energy bills. Since 2011, over 68,000 households in Wales have benefited from free advice and support, and over 17,700 of those households have benefited from free home energy improvements, such as a new boiler, central heating, and insulation.
In March 2015 the Welsh Government published an independent evaluation report of the Nest scheme. This report identified the marketing and targeting of the scheme to socially excluded groups as an area which needed improving. The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness of fuel poverty and encourage referrals from Cardiff amongst disadvantaged groups.
The workshop is being organised by NEA Cymru and funded by British Gas as part of the Cardiff Community Action Partnership (CAP), a partnership approach to tackling fuel poverty across the City. Whilst almost 1 in 3 households in Wales are living in fuel poverty, it is the most vulnerable householders who are most likely to be affected.
Please request a programme and confirm your attendance by emailing Alison.powell@nea.org.uk
