Everyone’s Future Media Panel invite
Everyone’s Future is an exciting partnership project between Age Connects Cardiff & the Vale, and youth organisation Vibe Experience. Funded by the Big Lottery, they work with people of all ages to highlight and challenge age discrimination, negative stereotypes and unfair representation of older and younger people.
A stereotype is an oversimplified image of a particular group of people. Stereotypes ignore the individual and imply that all persons within that group share the same (often negative) characteristics.
Stereotypes lead to inaccurate assumptions and ageist attitudes, affecting how we see ourselves and feel about others. Negative stereotypes can lead to age discrimination which is both a cause and a consequence of inequality and injustice.
Everyone’s Future Media Panel
Everyone’s Future is bringing together representatives of the BBC, ITV and Media Wales for the ‘Everyone’s Future Media Panel’ to talk to staff, volunteers and partners about how older and younger people are represented in the media.
The event will be an opportunity for people to address the negative stereotyping of men and women relating to age.
