Designated Person Child Protection
This Welsh Women’s Aid course will help you and your staff become familiar with the role and responsibilities of the designated senior person for safeguarding children.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course you should be able to:
– Identify core legislation and guidance in relation to safeguarding children within the Welsh context;
– Audit the safeguarding needs within your service and address these within Welsh Women’s Aid policy and procedures;
– Describe the effects of domestic abuse and witnessing violence on children and young people;
– Advise workers and others where there are concerns for the safety or welfare of a child;
– Ensure effective action is taken where a child may be in need of protection;
– Liaise closely with other professionals and agencies in safeguarding children;
– Ensure diversity issues are fully integrated into the child protection process.
