Child Protection
Children and Young people escaping from domestically abusive situations are amongst the most vulnerable in society. This Welsh Women’s Aid one-day course will address the impact of domestic abuse on children, how it can affect their development and mental health and how it intersects with other forms of abuse. It will consider the Child’s fundamental right to be safe and will examine factors that contribute towards a mother’s ability to safeguard her child/ren.
The core legislation and guidance relating to safeguarding children and young people within the Welsh context will be outlined and reporting procedures identified for where there are concerns about the safety or welfare of children.
Course Aim
To enable participants to respond appropriately, within national and local guidance, to concerns about the safety or welfare of a child or children and to contribute to maintaining a safe organisation.
