Cardiff Transition launch event
Cardiff Transition City and the Sustainable Cardiff mapping project – building sustainable partnerships across the city.
Cardiff Transition is an initiative for and by the people of Cardiff. Its aim is to support the creation of a positive future in the face of environmental challenges and climate change, resulting in a city which is low carbon, sustainable, healthy and happy.
To mark Wales Sustainability Week, Cardiff Transition invites you to join in celebrating Cardiff becoming an official Transition City and the work of community groups across the city who are enabling Cardiff to become a more sustainable capital.
Â
There are two events:
Â
The afternoon event 3.00pm – 4.30pm will be aimed at the public sector, businesses and those with an interest in business and enterprise. One of the founders of the Transition Movement, Ben Brangwyn, will discuss how we can unleash enterprise, creativity and the community to seize the moment to re-think and re-structure our communities, plus a presentation from a community project supporting local businesses.
The evening event 6.00pm – 8.00pm will celebrate grass roots projects with links to Cardiff Transition.
Â
Both sessions will showcase projects, have an opportunity to exchange thoughts and ideas as well as a space to talk about how we can work together to make Cardiff sustainable. You are welcome to attend one or both of the events.
The mapping project will also be showcased: Cardiff Transition is creating a map of activity in sustainable development, climate change and environmental issues in Cardiff (click here to view it). So far over 170 community groups, organisations and projects have been added to the map and there are plans to extend it to include relevant businesses, local and national government initiatives, and educational establishments. This will be a valuable tool to help raise awareness of activity across the city, and to connect people, communities, businesses and the public sector.
If you’re interested in sustainability, community or business, or would like to find out more about Cardiff Transition and what has been achieved so far, then these events are for you.
Please book your space for the event using one of the links above. Space is limited at both events so please book to secure your seat.
