Can Welsh public services thrive without the market?
Wales is one of Europe’s most public sector dependent economies. The Welsh Government has followed a ‘clear red water’ policy which focuses on co-operation in the public sector not competition or even contestability.
Can this approach continue or will the Welsh Government Commission on Public Service Governance and Delivery offer an alternative vision?
There are a number of innovative ideas now emerging from the centre right in Wales on public services, in addition to these more traditional approaches to public services such as the introduction of more mutuals (co-operatives) still remain largely unexplored.
Come and listen to latest expert opinion on new aspects of the public sector and the market and provide your own input at the inaugural conference of Gorwel, a new independent Welsh think tank, in association with the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
