This course is delivered by people with personal experience of addiction, treatment and recovery. It is intended to benefit any staff or volunteers who may come into contact with individuals who have the potential to misuse substances, are misusing substances or have misused substances. 

Attending this course will enable you to:

• Explain what is meant by the term ‘substance misuse’
• List the reasons why people misuse drugs
• Identify patterns of behaviour, signs and symptoms of use
• Name the different categories and effects of drug use (including Lethal Highs)
• Identity the risks associated with substance misuse
• List the different referral pathways and support options
