Asset transfer: everything you need to know – national event
The issue of Community Asset Transfer is currently a hot topic for both the statutory and third sector.
With this in mind WCVA, in partnership with BIG Lottery Fund Wales, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Communities First, Community Land Advisory Service, DTA Wales, Empower SVS, GAVO, Geldards, One Voice Wales, Unity Trust Bank, Wales Audit Office, Wales Co-operative Centre, Welsh Government and WLGA, is holding a national event on the subject.
The event will address the following issues:
- How do voluntary organisations best prepare themselves for the opportunity of Community Asset Transfer
- Understanding the work involved in taking over facilities, land and buildings and how to run them as vibrant and viable enterprises
- How does the local community become engaged in this process?
- What are the risks and barriers to Community Asset Transfer and how are these overcome
- Funding mechanisms for asset transfer, and for ensuring the continuation of services
- How to develop the enterprising mindset and skill sets necessary to run the asset sustainably
- Asset or liability? How to tell the difference
- Getting the legal issues right
With a range of workshops and plenty of expert speakers sharing their experiences, the event gives practical ideas to enable organisations to manage the process of asset transfer successfully.
The event takes place on Wednesday 10 June 2015 in Memo Arts Centre, Barry.
