Addressing Tobacco Control with Young People
ASH Wales is pleased to announce a one day training session in The Scouts Hub Cardiff on the 24th May 2012.
About the Training
A dynamic hands-on training course that empowers participants with effective ways of addressing tobacco use with young people, ways to tackle smoking with young people and understanding where it fits in nationally, regionally and locally with youth work. Topics such as prevention, cessation and tobacco advocacy with young people will be covered.
Who Should Attend?
Youth workers, teachers, staff from pupil referral units, youth detention centre staff, school nurses and health visitors. If you want to address tobacco use with young people in your area then this course is for you.
Why Attend?
Smoking and tobacco use are rightly included as major contributors to poor health in Wales. More than any other issue, tobacco use is the greatest driver of health inequalities. The training covers topics such as :
1. Tobacco use prevention
2. Support for smoking cessation
3. Developing advocacy and participation skills with young people around tobacco control and smoking awareness.

The training is a full day with registration commencing at 9:30 am and the training will end approximately 15:30 on the 24th May 2012
