Sent on behalf of the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee
The Mental Health Specialised Services Strategy 2022-2028 (the Strategy) draft strategy represents the next step in realising our ambitious whole person approach to commissioning specialised Mental Health services on behalf of the seven Health Boards for Wales.
To date we have worked with clinicians, managers and third sector representatives, through a number of different working groups to develop what we hope is a comprehensive understanding of the services provided to our patients and to describe the opportunities for strengthening the quality of care in the future. We are extremely grateful to them for their enthusiasm, hard work and conscientious approach. This work has now been captured in the draft strategy document attached to this email.
We circulated this document to stakeholders to gather their feedback between the 30th May and 22nd July 2022. As a result, the Strategy has been largely supported with minor amendments made, and this consultation aims to seek validation of the initial findings prior to finalising the Strategy for publication. This consultation period will run from Friday 18th November 2022 until Friday 13th January 2023. The final version of the strategy will also take into account the demand and capacity modelling work which is about to start.
To ensure our strategy truly reflects the needs of our population we ask that this consultation is forwarded to any patient groups or forums to ensure all views are considered.
Should you wish to find out more about this work then please do not hesitate to contact my team through the following email address: Emma.King2@wales.nhs.uk
Your input at this stage is essential if we going to be able to develop a strategy, which truly delivers on the ambitions of A Healthier Wales and delivers the best services possible for patients and we would be most grateful if you could take part in this process and feedback your views.
