Case Study: Singular Foundation

This month, we’re introducing Singular Foundation, one of the newer members of C3SC who have received support from our team. The charity was set up by wife and husband duo Kirsty and Tom Froggat, who were inspired to give something back to the local community. Kirsty told us that having a recruitment and consulting business in Cardiff enabled her and her husband to see their transferrable skills and knowledge as a benefit they could use to help others and thus their journey began.

The organisation focuses on the prevention or relief of poverty and helping people to develop the skills they need to improve their quality of life through the provision of coaching, mentoring, employment support and support services to help increase confidence and self-belief, as a means to ‘break the vicious social mobility cycle’ as Kirsty describes it.

Upon setting up, C3SC’s Third Sector Development Officer Thomas Crockett assisted Singular Foundation to organise their governance and their constitution. Thomas supported the Singular Foundation through the process of setting up – providing support with putting policies in place using sample documents to share best practice, and giving advice on selecting and recruiting individuals as trustees. Thomas explained he ‘attended their inaugural trustees’ meeting, virtually met the trustees and shared information on their responsibilities’ helping their induction.

Kirsty said, “C3SC has been a fantastic sounding board offering invaluable information and guidance around the general set up of a charity. We have a lot of the operations framework in place ready for when things do take off!” If you would like advice and support from C3SC on setting up and running your voluntary group or organisation, please get in touch at enquiries@c3sc.org.uk to get started.
