C3SC has been recognised at the ninth Cardiff Business Awards, winning Third Sector Organisation of the Year at the 2023 Cardiff Business Awards.
Alongside 18 other winners, C3SC took home the title, after demonstrating the ways in which we help those in need, bringing about real social change, raising awareness and campaigning on key issues affecting local communities.
The Cardiff Business Awards were set up to celebrate the best businesses in Cardiff and the vast potential that exists within the capital city of Wales.
Hosted by broadcaster Jamie Owen, the awards ceremony, which took place at the Mercure Holland House Hotel Cardiff, brought together companies and individuals who demonstrate the highest standards of business achievement.
The ceremony saw finalists from across all sectors in the City compete for 18 awards in a variety of categories, ranging from Start-Up of the Year to Employer of the Year.
C3SC was set up in 1997 to develop and support the third sector in Cardiff. We are a member-led organisation with over 1,300 members who have benefited from our services including advice and support ranging from governance to finance, volunteering, funding, planning, training, participation, influencing policy and more. We are committed to increasing the knowledge and skills of the sector as it evolves and faces different challenges so that community groups and voluntary organisations in Cardiff can make themselves sustainable while meeting the needs of their communities.
The Award really was a whole team effort, with Ebed Akotia and Callum Jones signposting the opportunity, Sheila Hendrickson-Brown finalising the application with contributions from the Team, Ebed and Sheila representing C3SC at the selection interview, and with Anna Ros-Woudstra and Kailee Carella attending the awards ceremony on behalf of the team at C3SC. Anna and Kailee reported, “We were so pleased to see representation from C3SC member organisations during the event, including Innovate Trust who were among the three finalists for the Third Sector Organisation of the Year category.”
Sheila Hendrickson-Brown, CEO at C3SC said “C3SC’s achievement would not have been possible without the contributions of the dedicated staff, volunteers, trustees, members, and community groups that work tirelessly to make Cardiff a better, fairer place and all those who support us. This award is for them – and you!”
Chair of judges Louise Harris, co-founder of Tramshed Tech, said: “We are privileged to be a part of this community that continues to push the boundaries of innovation and industry. The stories of determination, strength, and success we encounter within these awards are nothing short of inspiring”.
