Here at BBC Wales, we are planning a year of content focusing on disability. So in 2023, our newsroom plans to run a series of stories about people with disabilities, but we’d also like more disabled people to be represented in stories that aren’t about disability issues. Hopefully in this way we’ll find new voices that might turn into regular contributors on a wide range of issues, long after this season has finished. I’d be grateful if you could help us with this ambitious project, and put us in touch with people with interesting stories to tell. Perhaps you’re also aware of certain issues that are likely to become big themes next year, as the cost of living crisis grows.
One idea is to follow a family through the year, as they struggle to access services and get support. If we could find a family with different disabilities across several generations, we could then perhaps follow the journey of a child, an adult and a pensioner, over a 12 month period.
We’ll be kicking off the year with a week of content across all our platforms, in English and Welsh, on the 16th of January.
