Community Litter Picking Event Brings Butetown Together

On Friday, 20 September 2024, a successful community litter picking event took place in the Butetown area of Cardiff. Organised by Cardiff Third Sector Council (C3SC) and supported by Keep Wales Tidy, the event aimed to raise awareness for the Keep Wales Tidy litter picking campaign, The Big Cardiff Tidy 2024, which runs from 21 September to 6 October 2024.

The event saw an impressive turnout, with local councillor Helen Gunter and community groups like Clean Green Cardiff Streets and Cyfle Cymru joining forces to clean up the streets. Volunteers focused on areas around Canal Park and Butetown Community Centre, where litter had accumulated.

The initiative was part of a broader effort to encourage local communities to take pride in their surroundings. By bringing people together, C3SC hopes to inspire long-term commitment to keeping Cardiff’s streets clean and litter-free. It was a shining example of community spirit in action! We would like to thank everyone who came along to lend a hand.
