Join the National Museum of Wales on Thursday 18th October to celebrate the completion of the project to transform St Fagans to become the new National Museum of History for Wales.

The redevelopment of St Fagans National Museum of History, the most ambitious project undertaken by Amgueddfa Cymru as an organisation for many years, will be completed in October. The £30 million project, which has received generous funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Welsh Government and many other supporters, is currently one of the most significant and innovative heritage projects in the United Kingdom. Over 3,000 volunteers, apprentices and artists from communities and third sector organisations across Wales have participated in the redevelopment, contributing their time and skills.

The new galleries at St Fagans will present human life in Wales, from the world of a 240,000-year Neanderthal child, to the diversity of experiences of contemporary communities.

In October, they will also open the greatly anticipated Llys Llywelyn, a recreation of one of Llywelyn the Great’s Royal Courts. It is based on archaeological excavations of Llys Rhosyr in Anglesey.

4 – 6pm An opportunity to see the new developments

6 – 8pm Reception with light refreshments to mark the completion of the redevelopment project
