Cultural Awareness in Safeguarding Children

5th July 2017

A one day course

Understanding cultural differences is an important component in effective working with families and children. Practitioners and managers can be reluctant to address child welfare concerns because they fear being accused of racism, intolerance or prejudice. Getting the balance right between cultural sensitivity and making Westernised judgements on child welfare is difficult.

The course is for anyone working with asylum seeking, refugee or other BAME migrant families, in statutory, social care, health or education, community groups and refugee community organisations, including Flying Start, Families First, Communities First, IFST.
