What Matters to Young People Conversations?

17th November 2016 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

A one-day Children in Wales course

Conversations with Young People under the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014 and other arenas for assessing Children’s Wellbeing Outcomes

Under the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014, young people who are eligible for Care and Support Services will need to be involved in What Matters Conversations and the Co-production of their Wellbeing Goals.  There has been a culture change in the way we work with people of all ages in Wales, including young people, a move from doing to, to doing with young people.  The course will look at the legislative framework in Wales, the context for What Matters Conversations, and how to conduct assessments with young people.  The training will give participants the knowledge and practical skills in conducting assessments, using Person Centred Approached to one to one work and creative techniques and activities to get the most out of young people from preparation, to conducting assessments through to what happens after.  The course will use a child rights based approach which is an overarching duty within the Act.
