Representation, the Artist and Community: Collective Conversations

3rd June 2016 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Here’s what Representing Butetown says about this free event:

We want to create space for community members, artists, research artists and researchers working together across the arts, humanities and social sciences (and no doubt beyond!) who are working collaboratively within a community-focussed context to share why and how they ‘do what they do’. How do you describe your practice? What are some of the challenges of working creatively across arts, humanities, social and health sciences in ways which are of practical relevance to community members and groups? How has this enhanced or challenged your practice? Where is the artist in the co-production of artworks and artefacts? Where are the communities you seek to work with?  What happens when researcher and artist want different things? When artist as researcher seeks to work in a community setting to create artwork?
