Early Years & Child Accident Prevention Seminar
Following Children in Wales’ successful Parenting conference in October 2015, and in response to feedback from participants, Children in Wales is organising a series of follow-on seminars for 2016.
This first seminar will focus on:
* The unintentional harm and injuries to children and young people in Wales – what’s new, is there any current research being undertaken (Dr Sarah Jones and/or Huw Brunt, Consultants in Environmental Health Protection, Public Health Wales).
* The Child Death Review (CDR) Programme and how practice can influence/affect the work of the CDR Board. What do people on the ground do with the information that’s gathered? (Beverley Heatman, Programme Manager, Public Health Wales).
This practical seminar aims to inform those working with children in the early years, with a particular focus on the prevention of injuries, and help participants to start their journey to consider implementation issues. We are delighted that Karen McFarlane, an expert in child accident prevention and former employee of Children in Wales, will chair the seminar and facilitate discussion during the day.
