Somali Community Conference – Diversity in Action and Active Citizenship

The purpose of this conference is to:

– Highlight the contribution Somali people make in Wales
– Discuss Islam and its positive values
– Discuss the main barriers facing the Somali community, particularly the young people
– Explore ways to build more effective partnerships to achieve joined up working
– Explore ways to improve community relations and social cohesion

Key activities include:

– Renowned guest speakers including key politicians and community representatives

Presenting a community work plan (Road Map) developed within the community

– Viewing of the “Challenging Extremism” video
– Workshops on education, training & employment, community safety and family/women issues
– Panel discussion

The event is supported by Cardiff Somali Community Organisations, Ethnic Minority Communities First, Cardiff County Council and the Welsh Government. The event is FREE but places are limited and will be offered on first come, first served basis. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
