This Cymorth Cymru course follows the internationally-recognised evidence based Mental Health First Aid Course as licensed by the Welsh Assembly Government. Participants will be issued with a comprehensive manual and on completing the 2 days will be issued with a certificate issued by WAG.  

The principal aims of this course are to:

·         Question and consider what is meant by mental health and illness.

·         Consider some of the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems including depression, anxiety disorders and psychosis. 

·         Raise awareness of some of the historical and psycho-social theories and debates surrounding mental health issues.

·         Discuss a number of effective interventions and treatments that are currently available.

·         Raise awareness about how individuals can access help and support.

·         Encourage self-reflection and awareness for further lifelong learning needs.
