Unpaid Carers Short Breaks Grant 2025/26
Please note that this funding opportunity has now closed for applications.
Our recent round of small grant opportunities, to support community organisations to provide breaks for unpaid carers, has put arrangements in place for unpaid carers in a range of individual situations to take time out from their caring responsibilities.
In partnership with the Cardiff and Vale Regional Partnership Board and GVS, we are delighted to announce that we are in a position to offer a further funding opportunity for third sector organisations who can meaningfully reach a wide number of unpaid carers across Cardiff and the Vale within the current financial year.
Groups are being given the opportunity to apply for funding up to £5,000 to be used by 31st March 2026 that will primarily be used to:
- Increase availability and access for short breaks for unpaid carers.
- Provide the option to personalise the type, time, and content/focus the break takes for the unpaid carer.
- Target unpaid carers who need this the most.
- Build resilience and sustain the carers caring relationships.
The fund can support two types of activity:
- Activities that are for carers only; activities, events or trips that unpaid carers can access during their short break.
- Activities that are for the unpaid carer and the person being cared for; a “short break” for unpaid carers may come in the form of having other people to talk to and a change of scenery.
Applications are now live with a deadline for submission of 5pm on 1st October 2025.
How to apply:
Applicants must use the application form provided and submit by the specified deadline.
