Mental Health Awareness Training for staff in social care

This Cardiff Council course is for formal and informal carers working in mental health care and support. The course is applicable to community, day and residential carers. QCF assessors / tutors in Health and Social Care can use the course as CPD.

This is a one-day overview of Mental Health Awareness in a Welsh context. The course comprises four one and a half hour modules covering the impact of mental illness in Wales, understanding the classification of psychiatric conditions, recognition of signs and symptoms in addition to intervention and referral skills.

Learning outcomes are mapped to the knowledge components of the Mental Health Units 618 / 619 in the QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Participants will gain an attendance certificate mapped to the relevant QCF units and learning outcomes. A certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who attend the whole session. Refreshments will be provided during any breaks.
