Understanding volunteers’ motivation is key to maintaining their positive involvement. The course looks at what motivates and demotivates, and how to give appropriate recognition and opportunities for personal development.

Attending this course will enable you to:

• Understand what motivates and demotivates volunteers
• Understand good practice in relation to support and supervision
• Recognise and be able to manage a variety of difficult situations
• Know when and how to terminate a volunteering relationship
• Assess needs for training and development, and recognise different ways of meeting these
• Know how to give appropriate recognition to volunteers
