Food Poverty Grant 2021-22
COVID-19 has further highlighted the extent to which food poverty is a major issue on a local, national and global level, which looks set to increase as, for example, the job retention/furlough scheme and temporary increases in some state benefits come to an end. Cardiff Third Sector Council (C3SC) is administering the Food Poverty Grant programme on behalf of Cardiff Council, to assist third sector organisations in Wales’ capital help to tackle food insecurity.
This revenue and capital grant is a short-term fund from Welsh Government aimed at enhancing and increasing existing provision for tackling food poverty.
We are looking to support proposals for capital and/or revenue costs that will help local people in your community of benefit. This might include supporting the costs of delivering projects – such as social supermarkets, community cafes, lunch clubs and community cookery classes – or with the costs of developing or strengthening partnerships to support collaborative, accessible local food systems that enable fresh, healthy food to be available for more people.
The programme is open for applications from Friday 28th May 2021, with a deadline for submission of 5pm on Friday 25th June 2021.
Organisations can apply for a one-off, non-recurring grant of up to £10,000 for Capital costs and / or a maximum of £5,000 for Revenue costs.
All grant funded projects will need to be delivered, and funding spent, by the 31st March 2022.
