Child Poverty – Innovation and Supporting Communities grant

To provide funding to enable innovatIon and collaboration between sectors and/or regional partnerships on the issue of child poverty.

Tackling child poverty remains a priority for the Welsh Government, many of the levers for change lie with the UK Government. However, there is action to be taken in Wales to improve the day to day lives of and outcomes for children and young people living in poverty.  We want every child and young person, no matter what their family income is, to be able to realise their rights.

We know that we need to plan how to do this for children, young people and families who face extra barriers because of discrimination related to gender, disability, ethnicity or sexuality.

Innovation and Supporting Communities grant fund

This short-term grant has been developed to provide funding to enable innovation and collaboration between sectors and/or regional partnerships on the issue of child poverty. The grant is available to support public and third sector organisations (which includes faith groups) in their efforts to achieve the following:

  • Support organisations working together to enhance effective communication, joint working and knowledge transfer in responding to child poverty at the regional, local or community level.

It should be illustrated how children, young people and families in poverty will benefit from this grant funded additional collaborative working arrangement in the longer term.

The total amount available for distribution under this grant fund is £900,000. The grant funding will be split into three different pots:
