Aim.  In general terms the aim of the training is to provide learners with the basic skills to enable them to effectively undertake client manual handling risk assessments relevant to their workplace.

Objectives Learners will be able to:

•        Cite relevant pieces of legislation and responsibilities relevant to manual handling following Cardiff Council’s  / or other organisation’s Manual Handling Policy

•        Outline measures to prevent musculoskeletal disorders

•        Define a hazard and a risk

•        Effectively complete and document a Client Manual Handling Risk Assessment

Aims and Objectives

This course had been specifically designed and developed to give the learner an overview of some common degenerative illnesses that they may experience as a care worker, within the care sector.

This course will give the learner the knowledge and skills to recognise, support, manage and treat the possible symptoms people with a diagnosed degenerative illness may present with.

This course also gives the learner the skills to develop a Person Centred Plan to ensure the person with a degenerative illness is always at the centre of the care and support they will receive.

By the end of the day, learners will be able to explain the cause, recognition, symptoms and treatment of the following illnesses:

• Parkinson’s Disease

• Multiple Sclerosis

• Huntington’s Disease

• Cerebral Palsy

• Cystic Fibrosis

• Motor Neurone Disease

• Guillain-Barre Syndrome

• Cancer

You should also be able to explain, demonstrate and practice a:

• Person Centred Planning/Approach

• Care planning

• Risk Assessment

This webinar is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of this life threatening complication of an infection.

By the end of the webinar, attendees will be better placed to spot the signs and symptoms of this reaction and will have a knowledge of the best practice procedures following the onset of this condition.

• Know the basic pathophysiology of SIRS and Sepsis

• Recognise the clinical syndrome of sepsis and septic shock
