Paul Keeping

Chair – Recovery Coach at The Living Room, Cardiff

Paul Keeping was co-opted as a Trustee of C3SC in May 2018, and co-opted as Chair in July 2018.

“My name is Paul Keeping and although my work has mainly been based in the local public sector, I have been working with and alongside Cardiff Third Sector Council for the past 15 years or so. I joined the Board of Trustees in May this year, and was delighted to be appointed Chair in July.

I have long been a fan of the amazing talent and commitment I’ve seen across the city’s voluntary organisations and communities. I was proud to serve as a trustee of Hijinx Theatre from 1993 to 2006, and was Consultant Observer on the Cardiff Communities First Ethnic Minority Partnership from 2007 – 11.
I currently work as a recovery coach at Living Room Cardiff, supporting people in recovery from a range of addictive illnesses. Previously I worked for Cardiff Council for many years, in the areas of equality, scrutiny policy, communications and partnership.

I hope that my empathy for the third sector, coupled with my background and connections in public sector governance and policy will help me build partnerships and shared capacity. These are challenging times for us all, but I believe that by working together we can make the best of any opportunities that arise. Voluntary groups are inclusive and close to their communities, and uniquely capable of helping people find meaning and wellbeing in their lives.

I’ve really enjoyed my time as a C3SC trustee so far, getting to know the staff team and volunteers, and starting to map out some ideas with the trustee board on how we can best support the organisation and its members.”
