Opportunities for School Engagement

We are looking for organisations to support the below school engagement opportunities. If you can support please let me know:

  1. 1.St Teilo’s CiW High School cluster Open Your Eyes Week – w/c Monday 20th January 2020

We are still looking for organisations to support the above Open Your Eyes Week for year 6 pupils in primary and the year 7’s in St Teilo’s. Please see below the remaining available sessions:

Monday 20th January

11:30am-12:30pm – St Teilo’s School, Circle Way East, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff CF23 9PD

  • 30 year 7 pupils

Wednesday 22nd January

2pm – Bishop Childs C.W Primary School, Willowbrook Drive, St Mellons, Cardiff, CF3 0AY

Friday 24th January

11am – All Saints C.W Primary School, Ael-Y-Bryn, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, CF23 9LF

11am – St David’s C.W Primary School, Bryn Celyn, Pentwyn, Cardiff, CF23 7ED

11am – St Mellons C.W Primary School, Dunster Road, Llanrumney, Cardiff, CF3 5TP

The numbers of pupils participating in each school is in the St Teilo’s document attached.

  1. 2.The Youth Cohesion Group – Careers Event – 8th January 2020, 6pm-8pm, Wales Millennium Centre

The Youth Cohesion Group is a forum for young people aged 14-25 in Cardiff. The group is made up from 9 different wards in Cardiff.

The group are holding a careers event on the 8th January and are looking for organisations, with live opportunities, to exhibit between 6pm and 8pm at the Wales Millennium Centre.

  1. 3.St Illtyd’s High School cluster Open Your Eyes Week – w/c 10th February 2020

We are now looking for organisations to support the above Open Your Eyes Week for year 6 pupils in the St Illtyd’s cluster primary schools. Please see below the list of schools taking part:

St Illtyd’s High School cluster – 10th – 14th February 2020

  • St John Lloyd R.C Primary School, Cemaes Crescent, Trowbridge, Cardiff, CF3 1TA
  • St Cadoc’s Catholic Primary School, Shaw Close, Llanrumney, Cardiff, CF3 5NX
  • St Alban’s R.C Primary School, Mona Place, Tremorfa, Cardiff, CF24 2TG

The primary school talks will take place at 11am and 2pm.

I have also attached a list of tentative dates for Open Your Eyes Week 2020.

  1. 4.Welsh speakers to deliver Open Your Eyes Week sessions for Welsh medium clusters

 

In 2020 we will be delivering Open Your Eyes Weeks for welsh medium clusters in Cardiff. At the moment we need to identify welsh speakers in organisations who are able to deliver workshops.

If you are a welsh speaker, have colleagues who are welsh speakers or know organisations who speak welsh who can support school engagement in welsh medium schools please let me know.

The welsh primary schools are in the process of editing the ‘Advice for Speakers’ document and as soon as we have the welsh version ready we will send to our partners.

  1. 5.Mountstuart Primary School – Heritage Project

 

The school based in the Bay are focusing an element of the new curriculum on the history of Tiger Bay and Welsh heritage. If there are any businesses who can contribute to this project and would like to support the school then please get in contact.

  1. 6.Support for Cantonian High School’s PSE (Personal and Social Education) Day, 13th March 2020

 

Cantonian High School are looking for businesses to support their PSE day, 13th March 2020. This can be supported through a number of different activities and can be something that is explored further with the school. If you would like to see how you can support please let me know and I can introduce accordingly.

 

  1. 7.Long term work experience placements Fitzalan BTEC Level 2 pupils

 

Fitzalan High School is looking for placements for 1 day a week (every Friday) until Easter with the exception of school holidays for their BTEC Level 2 pupils (Ages 16 plus).

There are no specific outcomes or targets that the pupils need to hit to achieve their BTECs, it is more that the pupils are able to gain an insight into the world of work and are shown the aspects involved in a particular organisation i.e. H&S issues , HR , staff development , appraisal systems , various roles and responsibilities , progression routes etc. This list is not comprehensive and would really depend on the organisation.

  1. 8.Cardiff West Community High School – Industry Focus Terms

Cardiff West Community High School, Ely, are looking to engage with businesses from industry relevant to their industry focus during each term. Please see below their industry focus for the academic year:

  • 4th November – 20th December – Advanced Materials & Manufacturing
  • 6th January – 3rd April – Health, Social Care, Leisure & Tourism
  • 20th April – 23rd May – Financial, Legal and Professional Services
  • 1st June – 17th July – Construction

If you would like to support please let us know and we will introduce you to the Deputy Head Teacher, Gill Lee.

 

  1. 9.Radyr Comprehensive School – Lunchtime Guest Speaker Programme

At Radyr Comprehensive School, they have a lunchtime guest speaker programme and typically have around 200 guest speakers each year.  The majority of these are at lunchtime as they tend to be about specialised courses or careers.  The guest speaker sessions are 12.20pm-1pm.

Alternatively if a company felt they would just like to set up a stand one lunchtime in their study room so students could pick up information, or chat about career options that would be fine as well.

  1. Siaradwyr Cymraeg i gyflwyno sesiynau Wythnos Agor Eich Llygaid ar gyfer clystyrau Canolig Cymru

Yn 2020 byddwn yn cyflwyno Wythnosau Open Your Eyes ar gyfer clystyrau canolig Cymreig yng Nghaerdydd. Ar hyn o bryd mae angen i ni nodi siaradwyr Cymraeg mewn sefydliadau sy’n gallu cyflwyno gweithdai.

Os ydych chi’n siaradwr Cymraeg, os oes gennych gydweithwyr sy’n siaradwyr Cymraeg neu’n adnabod sefydliadau sy’n siarad Cymraeg a all gefnogi ymgysylltiad ysgolion mewn ysgolion cyfrwng Cymru, gadewch i mi wybod.

Mae ysgolion cynradd Cymru yn y broses o olygu’r ddogfen ‘Cyngor i Siaradwyr’ a chyn gynted ag y bydd y fersiwn Gymraeg yn barod byddwn yn ei hanfon at ein partneriaid.

  1. 5. Ysgol Gynradd Mountstuart – Prosiect Treftadaeth

Mae’r ysgol yn y Bae yn canolbwyntio elfen o’r cwricwlwm newydd ar hanes Bae Tiger a threftadaeth Gymreig. Os oes unrhyw fusnesau a all gyfrannu at y prosiect hwn ac a hoffai gefnogi’r ysgol, yna cysylltwch â ni.

  1. 6.Cefnogaeth i Ddiwrnod ABCh (Addysg Bersonol a Chymdeithasol) Ysgol Uwchradd Treganna, 13 Mawrth 2020

Mae Ysgol Uwchradd Treganna yn chwilio am fusnesau i gefnogi eu diwrnod ABCh, 13eg Mawrth 2020. Gellir cefnogi hyn trwy nifer o wahanol weithgareddau a gall fod yn rhywbeth sy’n cael ei archwilio ymhellach gyda’r ysgol. Os hoffech weld sut y gallwch gefnogi, rhowch wybod i mi a gallaf gyflwyno yn unol â hynny.

  1.  Lleoliadau profiad gwaith tymor hir Disgyblion Lefel 2 Fitzalan BTEC

Mae Ysgol Uwchradd Fitzalan yn chwilio am leoliadau am 1 diwrnod yr wythnos (bob dydd Gwener) tan y Pasg ac eithrio gwyliau ysgol ar gyfer eu disgyblion Lefel 2 BTEC (16 oed a throsodd).

Nid oes unrhyw ganlyniadau na thargedau penodol y mae’n rhaid i’r disgyblion eu cyrraedd i gyflawni eu BTECs, mae’n fwy bod y disgyblion yn gallu cael mewnwelediad i fyd gwaith a dangosir iddynt yr agweddau sy’n gysylltiedig â sefydliad penodol hy materion Iechyd a Diogelwch, AD , datblygu staff, systemau gwerthuso, rolau a chyfrifoldebau amrywiol, llwybrau dilyniant ac ati. Nid yw’r rhestr hon yn gynhwysfawr a byddai’n dibynnu’n wirioneddol ar y sefydliad.

Yn Ysgol Gyfun Radyr, mae ganddyn nhw raglen siaradwr gwadd amser cinio ac fel rheol mae ganddyn nhw oddeutu 200 o siaradwyr gwadd bob blwyddyn. Mae’r mwyafrif o’r rhain amser cinio gan eu bod yn tueddu i ymwneud â chyrsiau neu yrfaoedd arbenigol. Y sesiynau siaradwr gwadd yw 12.20pm-1pm.

Fel arall, pe bai cwmni’n teimlo yr hoffent sefydlu stondin un amser cinio yn eu hystafell astudio fel y gallai myfyrwyr godi gwybodaeth, neu sgwrsio am opsiynau gyrfa a fyddai’n iawn hefyd.
