The time has come for Marie Curie to launch the 2023 Great Daffodil Appeal in Wales, our flagship fundraising event which this year will include a series of unique Daffodil Days organised by our supporters, to raise vital funds to enable us to continue delivering the best possible end of life care in your communities.
Each year, Marie Curie raises over a quarter of a million pounds in Wales through the Great Daffodil Appeal. This helps fund our vital frontline palliative and end of life care services at our hospice in the Cardiff and the Vale, our wonderful nurses and healthcare assistants across Wales who provide support to people dying in their own homes and communities, and our UK-wide information and support line. This income also goes a long way to support our Wales Marie Curie Research Centre. We are incredibly proud of the vital work that our research colleagues carry out to support palliative care in communities in Wales, the UK and internationally.
Marie Curie’s work is more important than ever. The launch of GDA 2023 is an opportunity for supporters and Members of the Senedd to come together to reflect on and celebrate the past year.
The theme of this year’s event is bereavement. During the event we will hear from Chris Martin, Trustee and Chair of Marie Curie Wales Advisory Board, and Matthew Reed, CEO of Marie Curie, as well as a host of other special speakers. We will be welcoming nurses and our loyal supporters from across Wales, and a photo opportunity and personalised press release will be offered to all attending Members.
