Shaping Change’s Innovation Team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board together with Life Sciences Hub Wales are hosting an Innovation in Dementia Showcase on Monday 23rd October 2023 at UHL Day Hospital from 11am-3pm.
The event is aimed at CAV colleagues and other social and care professionals interested in dementia, across Wales. The event will provide an opportunity for professionals to view various technologies and explore how these innovative products could benefit patients in their area of work.
It is estimated that around 900,000 people in the UK are living with dementia, affecting both men and women.
Dementia is not a natural part of aging and is not exclusively a condition that affects older people, although there is strong links between older age and a diagnosis of dementia.
Zoe Hilton, Shaping Change Innovation Programme Manager at Cardiff and Vale UHB says: ‘We are excited to be hosting an Innovation in Dementia Showcase with the support of Life Sciences Hub Wales, giving healthcare staff the opportunity to explore the latest innovations in dementia care. We believe that these technologies have the potential to make a real difference to those living with dementia and their carers.’
Andrew Hall, Project Lead at Life Sciences Hub Wales says:’ Innovation in dementia care is not a choice. We believe that by harnessing the power of technology, we can help to provide improved, personalised support to those living with dementia, enhancing their quality of life and empowering caregivers. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future in dementia care.’
Attendance at this event is complimentary, and registration is not required. The venue for the event is the Day Unit at University Hospital of Llandough, located at Penlan Road, Llandough CF64 2X. The location is marked on the map below.
