Gohebwyr Ifanc yr Amgylchedd

Mae Gohebwyr Ifanc yr Amgylchedd (YRE) yn gystadleuaeth ryngwladol gyda’r nod o ymgysylltu pobl ifanc i ddatrys materion amgylcheddol. Yng Nghymru, mae Mars Wrigley yn cefnogi rhaglen Litter Less YRE trwy Cadwch Gymru’n Daclus.

Gall unrhyw un rhwng 11 a 25 oed gymryd rhan trwy ymchwilio i fater lleol yn ymwneud â sbwriel a chynnig atebion trwy gyhoeddi adroddiadau, newyddiaduraeth ffotograffig a fideo.

Bydd y cyfranogwyr yn cael dealltwriaeth well o ddatblygu cynaliadwy ynghyd â datblygu sgiliau cyfathrebu a dinasyddiaeth. Gall ceisiadau gael eu cyflwyno gan unigolion neu grwpiau sydd yn dangos menter a gwaith tîm, ynghyd â dadansoddi beirniadol, cyfrifoldeb cymdeithasol ac addysg arweinyddiaeth.

Nid yw erioed wedi bod yn amser gwell i weithredu.  Gyda phobl fel Greta Thunberg yn mynnu newid ar lwyfan y byd i ysgolion yng Nghymru yn cymryd rhan mewn Streiciau Hinsawdd wedi eu harwain gan ieuenctid, mae digon o ysbrydoliaeth ac, yn anffodus, problemau i ganolbwyntio arnynt.

Mae newidiadau cyffrous yn cael eu gwneud i YRE eleni gyda ffocws ar ‘Leihau Gwastraff Plastig’. Mae gwastraff plastig yn broblem fawr ac mae YRE yn rhoi cyfle i ymchwilio ac awgrymu atebion i leihau’r gwastraff hwn. O ymgyrchoedd glanhau traethau i gael gwared ar wellt plastig, i hybu’r defnydd o gwpanau amlddefnydd a chynnyrch mislif cynaliadwy, gall newidiadau bach arwain at newid mawr mewn ymddygiad.

I ganfod sut gallwch gymryd rhan, neu i annog pobl eraill i gymryd rhan, ewch i dudalen YRE ar wefan Cadwch Gymru’n Daclus https://www.keepwalestidy.cymru/yre

Young Reporters for the Environment

Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) is an international competition aiming to engage young people in resolving environmental issues. In Wales, Mars Wrigley is supporting the YRE Litter Less programme through Keep Wales Tidy

Anyone between 11 and 25 can take part by investigating a local litter issue and propose solutions through published reporting, photographic and video journalism.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of sustainable development along with developing communication and citizenship skills. Entries can by submitted by individuals or as a group showing initiative and teamwork, along with critical analysis, social responsibility and leadership learnings.

There has never been a better time to take action. With the likes of Greta Thunberg demanding change on the world stage to schools across Wales taking part in youth-led Climate Strikes, there is plenty of inspiration and unfortunately, problems to focus on.

This year brings some exciting changes to YRE in Wales with a focus on ‘Reducing Plastic Waste’. Plastic waste is a huge problem and YRE gives the opportunity to investigate and suggest solutions to reduce this waste. From beach cleans to ditching plastic straws, to promoting reusable cups and sustainable menstrual products, small changes can lead to big shifts in behaviour.

To find out how you can get involved, or to encourage others to take part, visit the YRE page on the Keep Wales Tidy website https://www.keepwalestidy.cymru/yre.
