The National Federation of Women’s Institutes-Wales invites you to attend the following events on Monday 21 November 2022, sponsored by Joyce Watson MS, with whom we have worked since 2012, to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and International White Ribbon Day:-
Cross-party stakeholder event focusing on the important role of workplaces in responding to and preventing gender-based violence: 11.45am – 1.30pm, Senedd (hybrid)
This event will focus on workplaces and include a panel debate on ‘Empowering and Engaging Workplaces in Preventing Gender-Based Violence’. Panel speakers include:
- Jane Hutt MS, Minister for Social Justice;
- Shavanah Taj, General Secretary, Wales TUC;
- Steve Barnbrook, Vice Chair, White Ribbon UK;
- Welsh Women’s Aid
Light refreshments and networking: 11.45am – 12.15pm.
Presentations, panel debate and open discussion: 12.15pm – 1.30pm.

Candlelight Vigil: 6pm – 7.30pm, Senedd
This event will bring people together to show solidarity with victims and survivors of violence against women across the world.
Confirmed speakers include Jane Hutt MS, Minister for Social Justice and Ruth Dodsworth, ITV Cymru Wales. We will also hear from a White Ribbon ambassador and a representative from each of the political parties.
The vigil will take place outside on the steps of the Senedd (weather permitting). In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Senedd building with the exception of a short walk around the Pierhead building.
