E-Safety With the Under 8s

9th July 2014

A half-day Children in Wales course

Children are increasingly becoming regular users of internet connected devices from a very young age. A study ‘Children and parents: Media use and attitudes in the nations’, published by Ofcom in 2012 reported that in each of the four nations over 80% of children aged 5-15 use the internet at home. Parents of children aged 5 -15 in Wales are more likely than the UK average to have concerns about content on the internet (25% vs. 17%) and smartphone ownership among 5 -15s has increased in all four nations since 2011.  Adults who care for and support young children, and their parents often express a lack of confidence in using and managing access to the technology that the children take for granted.

This course is aimed at anyone working with children under 8 years old and who wants to ensure that any access to new technology (computers, tablets, games consoles, smart phones etc) is both safe and appropriate. It is particularly suitable for adults who are not IT specialists.
