C3SC is developing and rolling out a digital volunteer scheme.
Almost 30 years after the launch of the World Wide Web, many people are still excluded from digital services. They still lack the digital skills that will motivate them to connect, make full use of online services with confidence, and be able to access other opportunities offered by the internet.
Digitally excluded people are some of the heaviest users of health and social care services, and risk being left behind in the digital health revolution. Digitally excluded people tend to be older adults, people with learning disability, long-term health conditions, lower educational attainment and low income individuals/families. Additionally, people in rural areas, Welsh speakers and people who do not use English as their first language.
With this in mind, Dewis Cymru working with C3SC is delighted to support people to gain digital skills. Our digital volunteering opportunity is designed to recruit individuals with digital know-how the opportunity to support and give back to their communities.
Digital volunteering support will benefit people to access services online, reduce loneliness, isolation, health improvement, promote training and increase employability for volunteers and the other person.
Dewis Cymru is an online service where people can go and find information or advice about their well-being or how they can help somebody else. Therefore, providing volunteering support that will enable greater access to this service will be a huge step forward.
As a Digital Volunteer, you’ll be changing people’s lives – helping them stay in touch with friends and family, shop, send emails, apply for jobs and get help with benefits.
But you’ll gain, too. You will:
- Put something back into the community
- Get free training
- Get useful transferable skills that can help you find work or get into higher learning
We will support you in making the connections by matching you with a community organisation where your help is needed. (in collaboration with Digital Communities Wales).
If you think this is something you would like to get involved in please contact us at enquiries@c3sc.org.uk or visit Digital Communities Wales (dewis.wales) for further details.
