Please read below words from an anonymous volunteer regarding the outstanding progress of a young homeless woman for achieving the allocation of her own flat and employment with the help and support of volunteers in the community. We would like to thank everyone involved, including C3SC staff member Leticia Ellis, for supporting this young woman.

“During lockdown, I and two friends came across a young girl living in a tent under a bridge. Few people from time to time took food to her, as a kind gestures. However, we felt the need to do help this vulnerable young girl who was not from Cardiff and was showing signs of trauma.

We asked her to attend church with us and supported her, in about 6 months the young lady started coming out of her shells and had the confidence to visits stores to ask for clothes/blankets etc to try keep herself warm as possible. One of my friends who has connection with Women’s Aid supported her to be allocated with her own flat and as an Avon distribution agent rep. Our support has helped the young lady in gaining her life back gradually. It was very rough for her on the streets especially being a female and alone.

The three of us have continued helping the homeless, either by giving them food, money, speak word of encouragement with them and pray with them, which is welcomed by the homeless. We will continue to do as much as we can with the little resources we have, as we are not in paid work currently.

Thank you Leticia

God bless you xx”
