We would like to highlight Elin Arfon for winning the Young Volunteer of the Year (25 years and under) Award at the Cardiff Volunteer Awards 2021.
Elin has gone above and beyond within her Volunteer Mentor role, see below why she won this year’s award:
Elin has found the mentoring to be inspiring especially during Covid-19 to know once a week she is able to connect with her mentee in-person and have meaningful interactions
“I really do smile when we participate in activities together.”
Elin has been exploring areas of Cardiff that she has never been to and feels to be part of several new communities. Elin has inspired other mentors to be more adventurous and try out new activities in Cardiff. Since the mentoring started the young person’s mental health has improved, he is more confident and feels part of the community. The variety of activities are really thought through, well-organised and great fun. The young person is always smiling and never misses a session; he is also out regularly exploring the City. Elin has many more adventures planned through winter including zoom cooking session, castle visits, indoor golf and many more bike rides…
Thank you so much for all your hard work in supporting your local community.
