Black History Month
October is Black History Month, and this year we will be holding two events to mark the history of black people in Wales, and explore the things we still need to do to achieve true equality.
The first event will be on October 19th in Cardiff, where we will discuss institutionalised racism in Wales, and how we challenge it. The event will be chaired by Welsh Labour BAME Committee Vice-chair Shavanah Taj, and speakers include Vaughan Gething AM and Chisomo Phiri from Ethnic Minorities and Youth Support Team (EYST). Please click here and RSVP, so we can get accurate numbers.
And the second event will be on October 31st in Newport, where we will discuss the challenges that black women face in employment in Wales. The event will be chaired by Gaynor Legall, Chair of the Tiger Bay Heritage and Cultural Exchange and the first BAME woman politician in Wales. Other speakers will be confirmed shortly. Please click here and RSVP, so we can get accurate numbers.
