Serco – Employer Supported Volunteering Case Study

Serco

Serco approached the Cardiff Volunteer Centre in early 2022 expressing a desire to fulfil their Corporate Social Responsibility and Employer Supported Volunteering. The Volunteer Centre worked with Serco to identify suitable opportunities for various departments/teams within Serco to support a charity or group in Cardiff for the day. Cardiff Volunteer Centre set up volunteering days with Cardiff Fareshare and The Innovate Trust.

“I would like to thank Cardiff Third Sector Council for their help and support in finding suitable volunteering opportunities for our staff in Wales.  Through our Serco Restart contract, we have approximately 100 staff split between England and Wales and it has been an enormous task sourcing suitable volunteering opportunities for staff to get involved in.  As the SV Lead, I was mindful that I wanted as many staff as possible to use up their volunteering day to help and support with the SV agenda.  With this in mind, I reached out to a few organisations to help with sourcing volunteering opportunities.  I reached out to Callum from Cardiff Third Sector Council who was extremely helpful in making sure that he sourced volunteering opportunities that met our staff’s requirements and interests.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Callum and found him to be extremely polite and professional.  We are continuing to work with Callum and Cardiff Third Sector Council to source new opportunities for our staff who have yet to use up their volunteering day.  Finally, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone at Cardiff Third Sector Council who have supported me in finding suitable volunteering opportunities for staff and look forward to continuing our working relationship.” – Suki Gill, Social Value Manager
