The next meeting of the Cross Party Group on Fuel Poverty and Energy Efficiency will take place on Tuesday 12th December 2017, 12:00noon – 1:15pm in Conference Room A, Ground Floor B Block, Tŷ Hywel, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff CF10 5AL.
The mass rollout of the next generation of gas and electricity meters is already well underway, with energy suppliers offering smart meters to every home across Wales, England and Scotland. Statistics published by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) show that over 7 million smart meters have been installed to date.
Assembly Members will have an opportunity to discuss the smart meter rollout in Wales including the benefits for prepayment meter customers, and to explore the specific issues in Wales, including changing supplier, how rural households are being engaged, and what lessons can be learned from organisations supporting low income households to understand the new technology to support them in managing their energy bills.
