Charity Banking Information Session

We at C3SC have noted that a number of groups have come to us this year facing real difficulties in opening new bank accounts. These include significant delays in Banks opening new “Business accounts,” difficulties in accessing in person support (only available online, lengthy waits on the phone etc), and some banks requiring groups to be registered with the Charity commission before opening an account.

In response, we have carried out some research into what High Street banks in Cardiff have to offer their Charity customers, and plan to present it in a one hour information session on:

Time: 10.00-11.00am

The aims of the session are the participants:

  • Learn about the difficulties facing Charities trying to open new Bank Accounts
  • Consider feedback from the Charity Commission on the situation
  • Learn about the services and accounts offered by High Street Banks in Cardiff
  • Feel able to make an informed choice of Bank Account
  • Share your own experiences which will help C3SC and GVS gather evidence and looks for solutions within the Third Sector

1:1 National Lottery Community Funding Surgery

C3SC in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund will be holding a  1:1 National Lottery Community Funding Surgery. If you have an idea for any project in Cardiff please book your half an hour slot session any time between 9:30am – 5:00pm on Thursday 16st September 2021

Meet The Funder Event People’s Postcode Lottery

C3SC is hosting Meet The Funder event in partnership with People’s Postcode Lottery explaining how to Apply for funding.

Time: 14:00-15.00

The aims of the session are the participants:

  • David Nicolson – Community Programmes Officer – People’s Postcode Lotter will explain the funding on offer and how to apply including eligibility criteria and answering questions. Providing a great opportunity for organisations interested in applying to learn more about this funding scheme and to be able to ask questions.
  • The fund is open for constituted groups, CIC and Social Enterprises, as well as Charities, so if your organisation fit this bill and are looking for funding.

Being a Trustee 

Being a Trustee will help new and existing Trustees improve their understanding of best practice in governance, and Covid-19 requirements

Location: online

The objectives of the course are that attendees:

  • Understand the key principles of governance
  • Understand how trustees as a board are collectively responsible and accountable for ensuring that the organisation is well-run
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Board in good governance
  • Be aware of good practice guidance in relation to governance

Writing Better Funding Bids

Online training event which aims to support Third Sector organisations in Cardiff to write better funding bids.

  • The tools and techniques you need to plan, write and present winning bids
  • How to Understand and meet the expectations of funders

Preparing for Volunteers

This interactive training session is about preparing for volunteers and volunteer management

Location: Online
Date: Wednesday 22nd September 2021
Time: 2-4pm

By the end of the session, participants will

· Be able to develop a volunteering policy

· Have considered what other policies might be necessary

· Understand key legal issues relating to volunteers

· Be able to identify volunteer roles and draw up volunteer ‘task descriptions’ Know how to assess and manage risk relating to volunteer roles.
