SUMMARY:Poetry\, football\, ballroom dancing\, and other ways to reduce alcohol harm
DESCRIPTION:Learning from Alcohol Concern’s Communities Together project in north Pembrokeshire \nThe people of Fishguard and Goodwick invite you to a conference like no other! Poetry\, football\, ballroom dancing\, and other ways to reduce alcohol harm. \nWhat’s the problem? \nHere in Wales\, we don’t always have the healthiest relationship with alcohol. Doctors and public health workers have been telling us for decades to cut back. It’s a simple message\, but in our complicated lives it’s not always an easy one to follow. \nWhat has Communities Together done differently? \nCommunities Together is a project about facing up to alcohol issues in our communities\, but one that didn’t begin with questions about alcohol. \nIt’s a genuine example of putting into practice the Prudent Healthcare principle of “achieving health and wellbeing…as equal partners through co-production”. Local people picked the priorities. Poetry\, football\, and ballroom dancing have been just some of the unexpected outcomes. \n  \nWho should come to find out more? \nAnyone working in public health\, community development\, town planning\, economic development\, children and young people’s services\, older people’s services\, substance misuse\, healthcare\, social care\, policing\, sports development\, creative arts. In short\, anyone who’s interested in how communities can mobilise to improve things for themselves. \nTo book your places free of charge\, go to www.alcoholconcern.org.uk/goodwick2016

SUMMARY:Therapy and/or Meditation: How do these things work together?
DESCRIPTION:TV’s Alistair Appleton is giving a public talk\, organised by the Samye Foundation: \nAlistair has provided the following description of the talk: \n“This is a rich subject and a friend recently asked about the cross-over between mindfulness and psychotherapy. While there’s a lot of research into the therapeutic impact of mindfulness\, there are only a few books/studies into how mindfulness works within the therapy room. \nThis talk looks to explore that fruitful seam with examples from therapy and some theoretical considerations. It’s open to everyone – therapist and laypeople\, but perhaps particularly interesting if you’re in a caring profession or\, indeed\, are in therapy.” \nIf you would like to go along\, please email admin@sfwales.org
