SUMMARY:WOW ( Wales One World) Film festival - FREEDOM FIELDS showing
DESCRIPTION:WOW ( Wales One World) Film festival to offer this fantastic opportunity to Women and Girls from the community to come and watch this incredible film ‘FREEDOM FIELDS’ in Newport on 26th March at 10am. \nFreedom Fields is a unique documentary\, made over the course of 5 years\, following the Libyan national women’s football team. It shows the lives of a diverse group of women who are brought together through the love of sport\, at the intersection of gender politics with revolution as it’s backdrop. \nThe film’s producer\, will be coming to introduce it and join us to chat over coffee and cake afterwards. \nIn my current role of tackling inequality in sporting participation for diverse community groups and also as part of the new launch of Women in Sport campaign #WatchHerGo\, this will be a brilliant opportunity to inspire females from the community to take up sport and physical Activity. \nIf you would like to attend or bring a group to watch the film\, please can you get in touch with me by  Wednesday 20th March to book your spaces. \nThe film is free but must book spaces. \nFor those living in Cardiff and Swansea\, there will be some support available for transport costs. \nDetails of the events are up on the website: https://www.wowfilmfestival.com/en/wowfilms/item/301-freedom-fields and flyer attached. \nMany thanks \nRajma Begum \nNational (BME) Diversity Officer\, WCVA

SUMMARY:Value For Money (VFM) Discussion Café
DESCRIPTION:Value For Money (VFM) Discussion Café \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen: Tuesday 30th April 2019\, 14:00 – 15:30 \nWhere: WCVA Harbour room\, Baltic House\, Mount Stuart Square\, Cardiff\, CF10 5FH \nPlease  REGISTER  to confirm your place. \nContinuing financial adversity among not-for-profit organisations\, coupled with the need to ensure client needs are actually being achieved\, has seen greater emphasis on ensuring value-for-money (VFM) in operational activities. However\, the focus on achieving successful long-term outcomes\, the needs of a diverse stakeholder base and the prevailing economic climate\, means that achieving value-for-money in not-for-profit organisations is increasingly difficult. \nThis discussion café is collaboration between UWE Bristol and C3SC offering an opportunity for not-for-profit organisations to meet to explore Value-for-Money (VFM) in its widest sense\, where participants will hopefully support and inspire each other with the aim of improving VFM in their respective organisations. Topics to be discussed will potentially include: \n\nhow VFM is assessed\ndecision-making processes that drive VFM\, appropriate performance measures that contribute and support VFM\nhow VFM is embedded and championed in not-for-profit organisations.\n\nDiscussions will not include any political dimensions or the necessity to disclose any sensitive information. All participants will agree to keep discussions anonymous. \nThe event is in collaboration with C3SC and will be chaired by Dr Carl Evans of University of the West of England (UWE)\, Bristol\, who is undertaking BAFA funded research exploring VFM in the charity sector. It is hoped that the research findings from this project will identify aspects of best-practice that could be adopted by organisations in the sector and will potentially lead to a model of best practice or VFM in the charity sector being developed. \nFor more informationcontact: \nCraig Lennox\, Senior Research and Business Development Manager \nTelephone: +44 (0)117 32 85231 Email: craig.lennox@uwe.ac.uk \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nPlease Note: \nDiscussions will not include political dimensions or the necessity to disclose any sensitive examples. All information that is collected about your organisation will be kept anonymous. \n  \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:Workshop: Understanding Welsh Places website
DESCRIPTION:Understanding Welsh Places (UWP) will support and inspire communities\, place makers and policy makers to make positive changes in the places where they live and work. The website will present useful data and geographical information about more than 300 places in Wales in a format that is quick and easy to use. People will be able to use this information to identify opportunities in their areas now and in the future. \n  \nThe Institute of Welsh Affairs are inviting people to talk about plans for UWP at an informal workshop in Cardiff on Wednesday 1st May. In particular\, they would like to hear your thoughts on the grouping together of similar towns and communities in a typology of places and on the analysis of interdependencies that exist between places. You do not need to be an expert to participate and your input will be greatly appreciated. They are especially keen to hear from people working or volunteering within Welsh communities at a grassroots level. \n  \nThe workshop will take place at Cardiff University at 10.15 am on Wednesday 1st May 2019. The discussion will last around two hours and will be followed by a buffet lunch. To book your place and find out more\, please visit the Eventbrite page. The event is free\, but spaces are limited\, so early booking is advised. \n  \nThe UWP website is being built by a team led by staff at Cardiff University. The Institute of Welsh Affairs (IWA) is coordinating communications and consultation about the project. You can read more about the UWP project on the IWA website.
