SUMMARY:Person Centred Approaches to Risk
DESCRIPTION:The person centred risk process uses person centred thinking tools to help people achieve the changes they want to see in their lives\, whilst keeping risk in perspective. The process begins by focussing on who the person is and what are their gifts and skills. \nBy offering a positive vision of success the implied aversion to any form of risk embedded in traditional approaches and attitudes can be avoided. \nIf balancing individual rights and duty of care continues to be an on going dilemma – this Learning Disability Wales course will help you out! \nFind out more and book online.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Soft Outcomes and Distance Travelled
DESCRIPTION:A one-day Children in Wales course \nThe Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014 came into force on 6th April this year and places a new focus on services supporting the well-being outcomes of the people they are working with.  The term ‘wellbeing’ is used to refer to the quality of people’s lives\, and covers both subjective and objective aspects.  Subjective well-being focuses on soft outcomes such as how people are feeling and how they perceive their lives and personal goals.  Objective well-being focuses on the conditions which affect those feelings such as health or education which are easier to measure in hard outcomes. Both of these perspectives are valuable for understanding children’s well-being. \nFind out more and book via the Children in Wales website.

SUMMARY:“Keeping Our Children Safe” Training for Designated Person for Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:Two-day Children in Wales course \nAll children have the right to live lives free from abuse and neglect but recent events highlight\, yet again\, how difficult it can be for so many adults to recognise\, and act on concerns about the safety or welfare of a child. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that all organisations concerned with children should work towards what’s best for each child. The Designated Person for Child Protection has a vital role within organisations helping to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place and that necessary action is taken when concerns about a child are raised. This course is aimed at people acting in the ‘Designated Person’ role working in a variety of organisations including schools\, children’s daycare and residential settings\, also services providing support to children and families in the voluntary and private sector. \nFind out more and book via the Children in Wales website.
