SUMMARY:“Keeping Our Children Safe” Training For Designated Person For Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:A Children in Wales two-day training course \nAll children have the right to live lives free from abuse and neglect but recent events highlight\, yet again\, how difficult it can be for so many adults to recognise\, and act on concerns about the safety or welfare of a child. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that all organisations concerned with children should work towards what’s best for each child. The Designated Person for Child Protection has a vital role within organisations helping to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place and that necessary action is taken when concerns about a child are raised. \nThis course is aimed at people acting in the ‘Designated Person’ role working in a variety of organisations including schools\, children’s daycare and residential settings\, also services providing support to children and families in the voluntary and private sector. \nFind out more and book via the Children in Wales website.

SUMMARY:C3SC Training: Gift Aid Registration
DESCRIPTION:This course aims to provide practical information for participants so that you are able to understand the benefits of income your organisation could generate from Gift Aid and how to go about registering for\, and claiming\, Gift Aid on donations. \nGift Aid enables charities to reclaim the tax paid on donations from individuals – for every pound your organisation is given you can claim an additional 25 pence from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). By building this option into your fundraising strategy you can generate higher levels of unrestricted funding for your organisation. This workshop will look at the process of registering for\, and claiming\, Gift Aid in five simple steps\, and it will also cover recent changes. \nBook online \nAlternatively\, email training@c3sc.org.uk or call (029) 2048 5722.

SUMMARY:South East Wales Participation Network - South East Wales event
DESCRIPTION:Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic experiences that occur before the age of 18 and are remembered throughout adulthood. Evidence shows people who experience stressful and poor quality childhoods are more likely to develop health-harming and anti-social behaviours\, more likely to perform poorly in school\, more likely to be involved in crime and ultimately less likely to be a productive member of society. \nBetter and more meaningful engagement is needed in order to intervene early and prevent adverse childhood experiences from becoming a reality for more and more people. At these practitioner network events we will explore different methods of meaningful engagement with communities. \nThis event will be facilitated in English\, but you are welcome to contribute to discussions in both Welsh and English. \nRead more and reserve your free place online. \nThese regional participation networks are suitable for anyone working in the field of participation and citizen engagement.
