SUMMARY:"Keeping Our Children Safe" Training For Designated Person For Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:A two day course \nAll children have the right to live lives free from abuse and neglect but recent events highlight\, yet again\, how difficult it can be for so many adults to recognise\, and act on concerns about the safety or welfare of a child. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that all organisations concerned with children should work towards what’s best for each child. The Designated Person for Child Protection has a vital role within organisations helping to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place and that necessary action is taken when concerns about a child are raised. This course is aimed at people acting in the ‘Designated Person’ role working in a variety of organisations including schools\, children’s daycare and residential settings\, also services providing support to children and families in the voluntary and private sector. \nFind out more and book a place online via the Children in Wales website

SUMMARY:Strengths-based practice study group
DESCRIPTION:A message from Bob Rhodes of Lives Through Friends: Coordinated and animated by LivesthroughFriends – with lots of help from Vanguard Thinking Wales and the Co-production movement – the Strengths-based Practice Study Group has been meeting three or four times a year since 2011. It’s always been a free coming together of leaders\, thinkers\, practitioners\, managers and citizens who want to share the progress they are making or seek help in their struggles to put people\, relationships\, and communities back at the centre of how we we care for each other – recognising that there is much more to life than services and the necessity to leaven our society’s growing dependence on the myth that ‘care’ can be bought with a healthy reintroduction of community and social work. \nTopics for this session: \n\nBetter Future Lives in Gwent – Coproducing Change with Jim Wright\nThe risks of NOT enabling people to have a natural support network with Mark John-Williams\nMaking Health & Social Services Integration a sustainable benefit with Dr Owen Jones\nSocial Prescribing – Signposting or Community Work? with Simon James\nCommunity and Society – Coproduce or Co-opt? The Leadership challenge with Bob Rhodes\n\n09:45 registration for 10:00 start.\nFull details and (free) booking via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/strengths-based-practice-study-group-wales-and-west-tickets-34179519864

SUMMARY:Data Protection for Fundraisers - Be GDPR Ready
DESCRIPTION:Delivered in partnership with Birketts\, this series of practical and interactive seminars is designed specifically with fundraisers in mind and will address the challenges and opportunities that the implementation of the new GDPR will bring. \nDid you know that the current data protection laws are being completely replaced by new laws that come into effect in May 2018? It may seem like a long way off but complying with the new law will require a full review of existing data protection policies and procedures and is likely to mean the introduction of new measures across your organisation. A failure to properly comply with the new law can result in a fine of up to €20 million\, so the stakes are high. It has been confirmed that this European legislation will be implemented in the UK\, despite Brexit. This practical half day session will focus on the changes introduced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and look at how these will impact on your fundraising activities. During the session you will be provided with high quality guidance notes and create a compliance step plan identifying the measures that you own organisation should take in the run up to May 2018. \nFind out more and book on the Institute of Fundraising website.

SUMMARY:Using Appropriate Touch with Children and Developing an Effective Policy for your Workplace
DESCRIPTION:A one-day Children in Wales course \nTouch is an essential aspect of many support roles with children\, adult physical contact is not only inevitable but beneficial. However any practitioners are unclear and anxious about using touch in a work environment. This course will allow participants to explore when touch is appropriate for their role and how this can be carried out in a transparent way that is accountable and supports safe working practices. Appropriate touch not only promotes a child’s social and emotional development but is also a highly effective and powerful method of non-verbal communication and is key to the development of healthy relationships. Touch must be child centred not staff centred and should meet with the requirements of safeguarding. \nFind out more and book via the Children in Wales website. \n

SUMMARY:“Keeping Our Children Safe” Training For Designated Person For Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:A Children in Wales two-day training course \nAll children have the right to live lives free from abuse and neglect but recent events highlight\, yet again\, how difficult it can be for so many adults to recognise\, and act on concerns about the safety or welfare of a child. The Designated Person for Child Protection has a vital role within organisations helping to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place and that necessary action is taken when concerns about a child are raised. \nThis course is aimed at people acting in the ‘Designated Person’ role working in a variety of organisations including schools\, children’s daycare and residential settings\, also services providing support to children and families in the voluntary and private sector. \nFind out more and book via the Children in Wales website.

SUMMARY:C3SC Training: Gift Aid Registration
DESCRIPTION:This course aims to provide practical information for participants so that you are able to understand the benefits of income your organisation could generate from Gift Aid and how to go about registering for\, and claiming\, Gift Aid on donations. \nGift Aid enables charities to reclaim the tax paid on donations from individuals – for every pound your organisation is given you can claim an additional 25 pence from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). By building this option into your fundraising strategy you can generate higher levels of unrestricted funding for your organisation. This workshop will look at the process of registering for\, and claiming\, Gift Aid in five simple steps\, and it will also cover recent changes. \nBook online \nAlternatively\, email training@c3sc.org.uk or call (029) 2048 5722.
